The San Juans are notorious for having one of the most dangerous snowpacks in North America, as well as some of the most incredible backcountry skiing in the state of Colorado. The Snowcast aims to help local backcountry skiers and riders make safer decisions by sharing current conditions reports, avalanche incident debriefs, and backcountry educational nuggets.

Chris is a passionate backcountry skier, guide, and educator who believes that more information leads to safer decisions in the backcountry. Based in Ophir, in the heart of the San Juan Mountains, Chris spends most of the winter with his head in the snow, digging pits, doing tests, and thinking critically about the realities of recreating in avalanche terrain and wicked learning environments.
